Transport and Vehicles in Rust

Welcome back Rust fans! As seen in the title above, we will be going over all Transportation in Rust. If you are a Rust player then you already know that in order to have a reliable vehicle you will need to do some repairs to the vehicle first. In this tutorial, we will go over the different Engine parts, repairs, fuel, and the process you take to fix this vehicle, including the different types of Transportation. If this is the kind of information you’re looking for then stay tuned and follow me along as I take you through this tutorial!

How to obtain vehicles

In Rust, vehicles spawn randomly near roads. You will find these vehicles with a semi-random selection of modules equipped, but each vehicle will need repairs, fuel, and engine parts prior to being able to drive it. If all Mods on the vehicle reach zero health, then the vehicle is considered wrecked and can no longer be used. However, it can be parted out like the scrap helicopter. A new vehicle will spawn once the original wreckage is gone.

Repairing these vehicles can be done in 2 ways. First, a Hammer or Garry’s Mod Tool Gun will get the job done. You can also repair the vehicle with the vehicle lift, which generally requires metal fragments and sometimes wood to repair.

Vehicle Modules

The crafting cost of the Armored Cockpit will require 250 metal fragments, 5 high-quality metal, and 50 wood pieces. The research cost will be 125 scraps, and you will also need a Tier 3 workbench.

The Cockpits crafting cost is 250 metal fragments, 5 high-quality metal, and 100 wood pieces. The research cost is 125 scraps, and you will need a Tier 2 workbench.

Cockpit with Engine has a crafting cost of 250 metal fragments, 8 high-quality metal and 100 wood. Research cost is 125 scraps, and you will need a Tier 2 workbench.

Crafting costs of the Engine will be, 250 metal fragments, and 5 high-quality metal. Research cost will be 125 scrap and you will need a tier 2 workbench.

Fuel Tank crafting costs will be, 400 metal fragments, 5 high-quality metal and 100 wood. Research cost is 125 scrap, and a workbench tier 2 required.

The Passenger Modules crafting cost will require, 500 metal fragments, 5 high-quality metal, and 250 wood. Research cost will be 125 Scrap, and a tier 2 workbench

Rear Seats have a crafting cost of 250 metal fragments, 5 high-quality metals, and 100 wood. Research costs will be 125 scraps and a tier 2 workbench.

The Flatbed has a crafting cost of 250 metal fragments, 5 high-quality metals, and 100 wood. The research cost will be 125 scraps and requires a tier 2 workbench.

The Large Flatbed has a crafting cost of 400 metal fragments, 5 high-quality metal, and 250 wood. The research cost will be 125 scraps and requires a tier 2 workbench.

Storage vehicle Mods crafting cost is 250 metal fragments, five high-quality metal and 250 wood. The research cost is 125 scrap and requires a tier 2 workbench.

One thing to keep in mind is that over time your vehicle’s components will begin to decay over time if left outside. So it is very important to keep everything well maintained. You will also need a Chassis this is the frame from which the rest of your vehicle is built from. There are 3 variations of chassis to choose from: small, medium, and large.

Engine Parts

If you’re ready to add your vehicle’s engine parts, here is the overview of what your choices are. In Rust, there are 5 different types of parts and each part has 3 different quality tiers. At least one of each of the 5 parts is required for the engine to function. The lower the quality the higher impact it will have on the overall speed and fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

CARBURETOR

Here we have the Low Quality Carburetor. You can find the information on how to obtain this here.
This is the Medium Quality Carburetor. You can find the information on how to obtain this here.
Lastly, we have the High Quality Carburetor. You can find any information on how to obtain this here.

The lowest quality carburetor can be found in the Vehicle parts toolbox, junk piles, and can be crafted. However, the Low-quality carburetor has been considered in many cases useless without having to get several other parts to help it run. The medium-quality carburetor can be purchased and crafted. However, you will still generally need to fix other parts along with it. High-quality parts can only be purchased and generally give off the best results.

VALVES

First, we have the Low Quality Valves. You can find any information on how to obtain this here.
Next, we have the Medium Quality Valves. You can find any information on how to obtain this here.
Lastly, we have the High Quality Valves. You can find any information on how to obtain this here.

The lowest quality Valve can be found in the junk piles and can be crafted. However, the Low-quality Valve just like the carburetor has been considered in many cases useless without having to get several other parts to help it run. The medium-quality valve can be purchased and crafted. High-quality parts can only be purchased and generally give off the best results.

PISTONS

First, we have the Low Quality Pistons. You can find any information on how to obtain this here.
Next, we have the Medium Quality Pistons. You can find any information on how to obtain this here.
Lastly, we have the High Quality Pistons. You can find any information on how to obtain this here.

If you have a Low-quality piston along with a low-quality crankshaft you can almost guarantee that you will have to replace one or both multiple times. The medium-quality piston can be purchased and crafted. High-quality parts can only be purchased and generally give off the best results.

SPARK PLUGS

First, we have the Low Quality Spark Plugs. You can find any information on how to obtain this part here.
Next, we have the Medium Quality Spark Plugs. You can find any information on how to obtain this part here.
Lastly, we have the High Quality Spark Plugs. You can find any information on how to obtain this part here.

Low-quality spark plugs will give very limited use, spark plugs ignite the fuel/air mixture to move the pistons. So with a low-quality spark plug, you won’t get much life out of your car before needing to replace it again. Medium-quality spark plugs will give you some more security. High-quality spark plugs will give you the best performance and a longer life span before needing to switch it out.

CRANKSHAFT

First, we have the Low Quality Crankshaft. You can find any information on how to obtain this part here.
Next, we have the Medium Quality Crankshaft. You can find any information on how to obtain this part here.
Lastly, we have the High Quality Crankshaft. You can find any information on how to obtain this part here.

Having a Low-quality crankshaft will not get you anywhere long term, if you’re only needing a temporary fix then a low-quality will work. The medium-quality crankshaft will allow use for a while, however you will need to craft or purchase this mod. The high-quality crankshaft will give the best performance, although just like any other high-quality part you will need to purchase it.

Fuel

After you have added in your engine parts, you just need to add the fuel. The vehicles run on low-grade fuel, which you can access from the rear. The efficiency will always depend on the quality of the engine parts you have.

Rowboat

The Rowboat allows individuals and groups to travel the Rust landscape in an easy and efficient manner. This spawns all over the map, although they cannot be crafted, you can find more information on the “Rowboat” here.
The RHIB an Inflatable Boat is a more powerful alternative to the cheaper Motor Rowboat. It can be purchased at one of the Fishing Villages on the map.
You can find more information on this boat here.
Here we have an improvised wooden kayak. Seats two and requires a Paddle to operate. For more information, you can view it here.

Air Transportation

The Scrap Transport Helicopter is a flying vehicle that has 2 seats for 1 pilot and 1 passenger. This vehicle can be bought from Bandit Camp for 1250 scrap. The helicopter uses 1800 Low-Grade Fuel, a max of 500 fuel can be loaded into it. It has a max of 1000 HP, and like any other form of transportation in Rust, the quality will weaken over time. If the helicopter is not within a base it will deteriorate within 3 hours, if it on base it will despawn after 6 hours. You can make repairs using a Hammer with Metal Fragments.

The Minicopter is a form of air transportation that supports up to 2 players. Unlike traditional air transportation, the pilot sits behind the passenger. The Minicopter requires 1800 Low-Grade Fuel, which can be placed in the fuel tank behind the driver seat. This transportation can be bought from the helicopter vendor in Bandit Camp for 750 scraps. Just like other vehicles in Rust if not located inside a base, it will deteriorate in 8 hours, and if inside a base it will despawn after 36 hours. You can repair it using a Hammer and Metal fragments.

In Conclusion

As seen above, there are many different forms of Transportation in Rust. I hope this tutorial helped you better understand how to take the necessary steps to obtain these items and vehicles. As always I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did and we hope to see you next time!

Weapons in Rust

In this tutorial, we will be going over the different types of weapons within Rust. Upon viewing, you should now have all the keys and information needed to find When, Where and how you can get these weapons. Keep reading to learn more and start your Rust server with Iceline Hosting today!

Top rated weapons

Now lets get started, in the images and descriptions shown below you will see Rusts top rated weapons.

10. As seen in the image displayed above we have the Thompson submachine gun. If you are looking for a weapon that doesn’t require much yet still gets the job done then this would be a highly recommended weapon of choice for you.

The Thompson is a fully automatic that previously held the standard for the fastest firing gun in the game. Although the Thompson only retains a capacity of 20 rounds, it makes up for it by the low crafting costs. Crafting this weapon will only cost 10-high quality metal, a tier 2 workbench, 100 pieces of wood, a spring, and an SMG body. However the Thompsons lower range and accuracy does make this weapon more suitable for close-ranged encounters.

9. Displayed in the image above we have the MP5A4. If you are in need or looking for a more modernistic submachine gun then this may just be the weapon for you. This weapon is the only military grade weapon in Rust that can be crafted.

The MP5A4 is a more versatile choice within Rust. Shooting pistol bullets and holds 30 rounds of ammunition Although the Thompson has higher damage this weapon has a higher accuracy rate, range, and ammo capacity. Which allows this weapon to be suitable in many situations. The MP5A4 just like the Thompson is easily crafted; requiring 15-High quality metal, 1 SMG body, 2 metal springs, and a tier 3 workbench.

8. Displayed in the image above we have the SPAS-12 Shotgun. Every gamer loves a good shotgun, especially for those moments when you need a weapon that you can use up-close that will do A LOT of damage. The SPAS-12 will definitely do the job since it is a semi-automatic.

This weapon is sadly a rare find, it is only available in Loot Boxes and on occasion you can get this weapon from trading. The reload speed is unfortunately nothing special, on the plus side the SPAS-12 firing rate gives you a major advantage against any enemies who like to get up close and personal.

7. Displayed in the image above here we have the M39 Rifle. If you’re looking for a safe route to take this is a well recommended weapon of choice.

The M39 is not generally meant for close encounters, the best use of the M39 is for long range and medium range fire-fights. Unfortunately this weapon is non-craftable, but there is a significantly noticable difference compared to the craftable semi-auto rifle in the survival game. On the plus side the M39 is considered to be a great silencer and has a zero bullet travel time.

6. Displayed in the image above here we have the LR-300 Assault Rifle. This weapon is definitely one of the most modern and advanced there is,and has many new customizations.

This modern weapon can fire all 5.56 rifle ammo variants, it has a lower recoil and higher spread. This weapon is non-craftable and is very hard to come by, you can obtain this item from crates and drops. So if you happen to loot one off of a kill consider yourself one of the better players.

5. Here we have the Multiple Grenade Launcher. A well known weapon to take out a major group or an adamant enemy, Would definitely recommend when trying to defend an area.

The perk of this weapon is that it’s not just sending out 1 grenade but it does send 6 out. Giving this weapon a very high success rate, this weapon also has a better reload time compared to many other explosive weapons. This weapon does have quite of a learning curve, which requires adjusting your aim more than usual for the best results. Unfortunately this beast is very rare and the ammo is unable to be crafted, So do be conservative with this treasure and its ammo.

4. Here we have the Bolt Action Rifle. This epic weapon is highly used for long distance shots, generally in Rust you will encounter more long actions shots then you will up close. In that case this weapon is perfect for those circumstances.

This rifle can take care of those difficult up close and personal enemies if need be with no problem, if you have good enough aim for that. However this weapon requires 30-high quality metal which might take a while to obtain due to cost, along with 5 metal pipes, and 2 metal springs.

3. Sniping is many players first choice, not having to get up close while at the same time getting a good laugh from bothering the other players. So here I present the L96 Sniper.

This weapon is key for the one-shot, one-kill concept. The reload speed is bolt-action and it’s technique reflects best in long-range. Generally the L96 Sniper is rare to come by, each crate has an 8% chance of containing one. It has a very high accuracy rate and is currently the best sniper in the game. This weapon unfortunately does not come with a scope.

2. As for the Assault Rifle, this weapon is generally one of the most well known and well rounded weapons ever in Rust. The AK is chosen by the majority of players and is very versatile for many different needs.

The Assault Rifle is a high-tier firearm very capable of firing powerful rounds at long range. In order to craft this weapon you’d need 50-high quality metals, 200 pieces of woods, 1 rifle body and 4 metal springs. There isn’t many reasons to not get this weapon, does a generous amount of damage and is also pretty cost efficient.

1. We saved the best for last, here we have the M249. Using this weapon will allow you to wipe out an entire base if you have the resources and the time to do so.

Consider yourself lucky if you get to have this weapon in your possession, this weapon can only be obtained in Helicopter crates, and Bradley crates. With the high damage rating alongside the generous magazine capacity of 100. Therefore leaving the M249 holding the most bullets in-game out of all the other weapons. Making this the top rated weapon in Rust.

Handguns

Here we have the M92 Pistol. It has a high fire rate and deals more damage than the Semi-automatic pistol. This pistol can not be crafted, however you can obtain it from Airdrops and Attack Helicopters.
Here we have the Python Revolver. This weapon can deal more damage than the M92 Pistol. This weapon does however have a higher recoil with only six shots. All you need to craft this weapon is 3 metal pipes, 1 metal spring, and 10-high quality metal.
Here we have the Eoka Pistol. A homeade single shot pistol. Instead of having a trigger, the Eoka is fired but by striking a hole at the top of with a piece of flint. For crafting you will need 75 wood pieces, and 30 metal fragments. The Eoka is generally considered the worst ranged weapon in the game.
Here we have the Revolver. The revolver is a ranged weapon that holds 8 rounds while loaded. The revolver does not do much damage, however unlike most weapons it does not require High quality metal to craft. What you will need to craft this weapon is a pipe, 3 fully grown hemp trees, and 125 metal fragments. Definitely would recommend for a starter weapon.

Here we have the Semi-Automatic Pistol. This weapon has a fast fire rate and can definitely do some damage unarmored, or lightly armored players. The crafting of this weapon requires 1 semi-automatic body, 4 high quality metal, 1 metal pipe, and a tier 2 work bench.
Here we have the Nailgun. The Nailgun can hold up to 16 nails in one magazine. It is one of the least used weapons in the game. To craft this weapon it requires 75 metal fragments, 15 scrap, and a tier 1 workbench.

Shotguns

Here we have the Double Barrel Shotgun. This shotgun releases two rounds with a wide spread before needing to reload. The individual shots do about the same damage, but however teh ability to fire two shots at the same time allows more damage per second. Overall making this weapon very effective. In order to craft this weapon you will need, 175 Metal fragments, and 2 Metal pipes.
Here we have the Pump Shotgun. The pump shotgun fires 12 Gauge Buckshot shells. The Pump Shotgun can also be reloaded with handmade shells. The weapon can only hold 6 rounds making it less effective. This weapon is for close encounters, because it does have a large spread it makes it more difficult to hit your target. In order to craft this weapon you will need, 15 High Quality Metal, 2 metal pipes, and 1 metal spring.
Here we have the Waterpipe Shotgun. This weapon is single-fire ranged. It uses 4 different types of ammo, Handmade shell, 12 Gauge Buckshot, 12 Gauge Slug, and 12 Gauge. This weapon is very powerful and delivers high damage for the cost of it. It is a very good weapon of choice for indoor fights. To craft this weapon requires, 100 wood pieces, and 75 metal fragments.
Here we have the Spas-12 Shotgun. This weapon is semi-automatic and comes in use with close ranged fights, the reload speed isn’t anything special so not advised if you struggle with aim. However this weapon is rare to have, it is only available in Loot Boxes.

Submachine Guns

Here we have the Custom SMG. This weapon holds 24 bullets and has a very fast fire rate, it’s accuracy however is a downside to this weapon. To craft this weapon you will need, 8 High quality metal, 1 SMG body, and 1 Metal spring.

Here we have the MP5A4. This weapon shoots Pistol bullets and holds up to 30 rounds. It has a high accuracy, range, and ammo capacity. Those perks definitely make the MP5A4 a more versatile weapon within Rust. In order to craft this weapon you will need, 15 High quality metal, 1 SMG body, 2 metal springs, and Tier 3 workbench.
Here we have the Thompson Submachine Gun. The Thompson shoots pistol bullets and holds 20 rounds of ammo. Prior to the Custom SMG coming into the game the Thompson was the fastest firing weapon in the game. The weapon itself is easy to control however, it does have a lower accuracy rate and range. To craft this weapon you will ned, 10-high quality metal, a tier 2 workbench, 100 pieces of wood, a spring, and an SMG body.

Rifles

Here we have the Assault Rifle. This weapon is a high-tier firearm with the ability to fire rounds at long range. This weapon is preferred for close to medium ranged fights. In order to craft this weapon you will need, 50 high quality metal, 200 wood pieces, 1 rifle body, and 4 metal springs.
Here we have the Bolt Action Rifle. Very capable of accurate shots from long distances. It holds 4 rounds of 5.56 Rifle ammo at a time. It is very rare to find and expensive to craft, but does do a lot of damage. It can be crafted with, 20 high quality metal, 1 rifle body, 3 metal pipes, and 1 metal spring.
Here we have the L96 Sniper . This weapon is very rare to find, the highest chance you have of finding one is if you come across the Bradley APC. Which contain crates each have a 8% chance of containing the weapon.
Here we have the LR-300 Assault Rifle. This weapon has a lower recoil and higher spread. This weapon can be obtained from crates such as, Bradley APC, Airdrops, Bandit camps, and Attack Helicopters.
Here we have the M39. This weapon is generally used for long range. Unfortunately this weapon is Non-craftable, but on the plus side it has a zero bullet travel time.
Here we have the Semi-Automatic Rifle. This weapon does a lot of damage and has a relatively low bullet drop, with good range as well. It can be crafted with, 1 Semi automatic body, 450 metal fragments, 1 metal spring, 4 High quality metals, and Tier 2 workbench.

Machine Guns

Here we have the M249. This weapon has a high damage, high fire rate, and belt-fed light machinegun. It is considered one of the best weapons in the game. It can be obtained from looting the crash site of a Attack Helicopter, or from the Bradley APC. A single magazine holds 100 bullets.

Bows

Here we have the Crossbow. The Crossbow will do a specific amount of damage depending on the type of body part that was hit. This can be crafted from 200 Pieces of wood, 75 Metal fragments, and 2 Rope.
Here we have the Compound Bow. This is the only weapon that features a charge mechanism. You can achieve this by holding down the aim button for an extended period, charge shots alone do twice as much damage. In order to craft this weapon you will need, 100 wood pieces, 75 Metal fragments, 2 rope, and a Tier 1 workbench.
Here we have the Hunting Bow. This weapon allows you to shoot vertically which generally returns the arrow to where they were fired. To craft this you will need, 100 wood pieces, and 50 cloth.

Melee Weapons

Here we have the Machete. This weapon in Experimental Rust with good durability and damage output. It is one of the best melee weapons in the game. This weapon can be used by equipping it in the hotbar and pressing right-click. To craft this item it requires, 100 wood pieces, and 40 Metal fragments.
Here we have the Longsword. It is pretty rare, you can find it in Loot crates, barrels and airdrops. Although is worth finding as it has a good range and high damage output.
Here we have the Mace. There is not much to say about this weapon. It does quite the damage, but has a slow swing speed. You can craft this from, 100 Wood Pieces, and 50 Metal Fragments.
Here we have the Salvaged Cleaver. Much like the Machete, the Cleaver inflicts a high slash damage. You can craft this with 50 Metal Fragments, and 1 stop sign.
Here we have the Salvaged Sword. This weapon can be used by clicking the right mouse button. It can be created with 15 Metal Fragments, and 1 Metal blade.
Here we have the Stone Spear. This weapon is an upgrade from the Wooden Spear, Stone Spear is slightly more durable and does more damage than the Wooden Spear. You can throw it by right-mouse-clicking, You can pick it up by pressing the Use button (default “E”). On occasion the Stone spear will break, when this happens you can not pick it back up. In order to craft you will need, 1 Wooden spear, 100 Stones, and 5 cloth.
Here we have the Wooden Spear. When hit with a wooden spear not only will it inflict damage, but there is a high chance that it will cause bleeding. The Wooden Spear is throwable. You can throw it by right-mouse-clicking, You can pick it up by pressing the Use button (default “E”).

Explosives

Here we have the Beancan Grenade. It is very effective, yet can be unreliable at times Sometimes, the grenade will not explode, or it will explode with a long or short delay. The primary fire button, or left mouse button, is used to throw the beancan grenade. You can craft this by using, 60 gun powder, and 20 Metal fragments.
Here we have the F1 Grenade. This explosive will do a deal of damage to anything or anyone standing in close proximity when it goes off. It can also stick to structures using Right-Click to break walls or doors, working as a alternative way to raid bases. It is craftable, you can use 30 Gunpowder, and 25 Metal fragments.
Here we have the Rocket Launcher. This weapon is very effective against players, animals, and buildings, however the weapon and ammo are quite expensive to craft. The Rocket Launcher is considered one of the best weapons in the game due to its power. It can fire 66 rockets before breaking. To craft this weapon you will need 50 High quality metal, and 6 Metal Pipes.
Here we have the Satchel Charge. This explosive is meant to destroy player-made buildings leaving them vulnerable to looting. It has a small chance of malfunction. Crafting the Satchel requries, 4 Beancan grenades, 1 Small stash, and 1 rope.
Here we have the Timed Explosive Charge. This explosive can be thrown onto walls, doors, or deployable items. It has proven to be an ideal method of entry in raids which detonate after 10 seconds.Causing anything within the radius to be destroyed. To craft this item you will need, 20 explosives, 5 cloth, and 2 Tech Trash.
Here we have the Grenade Launcher. To start off it has a internal magazine of 6 rounds and you can choose 3 types of ammunition. The three ammunition choices are, 40mm Shotgun Round,
40mm HE Grenade, and
40mm Smoke Grenade. The grenade launcher itself can only be found on Heavy scientists.

Miscellaneous

Here we have the Flame Thrower. It uses low-grade fuel as ammunition and is the first weapon in Rust that only uses Fire/Heat damage. This weapon is extremely effective when using it against wooden and twig buildings. However, it is very ineffective against stone, metal, and armoured buildings. To craft this you will need, 6 Metal pipes, 15 High Quality metal, 100 Low-grade fuel, 2 empty propane tanks, and a Tier 2 level workbench.

Weapon Modifications

Here we have the 8x Zoom Scope. This Mod is extremely useful for hitting targets for recon purposes. You can right-click to look into the scope which magnifies the area ahead 8x. This is craftable, all you will need is 50 High Quality metal.
Here we have the Holosight. The purpose of this item is that it adds a holographic sight to the weapon it is mounted on. This item is craftable, you will need 12 High Quality Metal, and 1 Tech Trash.
Here we have the Muzzle Boost. The purpose of this weapon is that it increases weapon fire rate by channeling gasses back into the weapon cycling it faster, at the cost of bullet velocity and accuracy. However due to the reduced bullet velocity, bullets will suffer a ~12% damage penalty. This item is craftable, you can use 10 High Quality metal to craft this.
Here we have the Muzzle Brake. The purpose of this Mod is it  lowers the recoil and decreases accuracy and damage of a gun. However using the Muzzle Brake does alter the weapons accuracy. This can be crafted by using 8 High quality metal.
Here we have the Silencer. The Silencer is more curved towards stealth operations. This is used for stealth operations due to it significantly reducing the sound of gunfire. This only takes 5 High Quality Metal to craft.
Here we have the Simple Handmade Sight. This Mod provieds you with a clearer picture of your target. However it can not be used during nighttime. You can craft this Mod using 6 High Quality Metal.
Here we have the Weapon Flashlight. This Mod provides a beam of light in front of you. Be careful though because this may allow visibility for other players to attack you in the night. The Flashlight can be toggled on or off with the “F” key. This Mod can be crafted from 3 High Quality Metal.
Last but not least here we have the Weapon Laserlight. This Mod adds a laser sight to your weapons. This allows the user a better sense of where they are aiming. However other players can see the laser. The Lasersight can be toggled on and off with the “F” key.
You can craft this Mod from 3 High Quality Metal, and 1 Tech Trash.

Conclusion

As seen in the blog above there are many different weapons to choose from in Rust. I hope this guide will help you find any information you may be looking for in order to make the best weaponry choice. Thank you for tuning in and we will see you in our next blog!

Rust: Top 10 uMod Plugins 2021

Introduction

When creating a Modded Rust server, you may find yourself sorting through hundreds of different mods that all do different things for your server. Making sure you have the right plugins for your server is very important for keeping your players around and keeping your server interesting.

We will be going over the Top 10 uMod plugins that we think almost every server owner should have.

Installing uMod on your server is easier than ever with the new panel. All you have to do is go to the “Mods” tab in your panel and install uMod.

Installing plugins is also easier with the new panel. Once you have uMod installed, just go to the “Plugins” tab and search the plugin.

Which Plugins Should My Server Have?

First, you need to decide what type of server you are going to have. Here are a couple examples:

  • Roleplaying / PVE Server
  • Heavy Modded
  • Minigame Server
  • Vanilla (completely vanilla with administration plugins)

Each type of server uses different types of mods but with this guide we will try to recommend mods that most server will want or need.

Top 10 uMod Plugins

  1. Discord Core (Requires: Discord)
With the emergence of Discord, being able to link your Discord server with your Rust server really helps with moderation and incentivizing people to join your Discord. Discord core is also just the backbone for Discord integration, there a ton of other Discord-related plugins for Rust such as ones that create Discord bots to show server stats, chat between the game and Discord, and many more.
  2. Better Chat
Better chat allows for more customization with the in-game chat with things like groups to separate users and the ability to change name colors, text colors, and much more.
  3. Arkan (anti-cheat)
With any game, cheating can be annoying. However, with Rust, when a lot of the gameplay revolves around PVP, cheating is very prevalent and can ruin a server. Arkan provides another layer of anti-cheat besides the standard EAC that Rust uses.
  4. Player Administration
Dealing with console commands to ban/kick players can be annoying, so why not install the player administration mod to make life easier for your staff. Player administration provides a new hud for server admins that allows staff to kick, ban, teleport, kill, and a lot more.
  5. Vanish
Vanish is another essential plugin for admins. Vanish allows staff to go invisible to watch over suspicious players. You can also allow staff that are using vanish to unlock all locks to investigate suspicious bases.
  6. Welcomer
The welcomer plugin adds a custom welcome message to players that join. This can be used to list off the rules of the server, list commands for the server, or even advertise your Discord or other socials.
  7. Advert Messages
The advert messages plugin lets you display important server info at a certain interval. Advertise your Discord, wipe information, server commands, server rules, and anything else you can think of.
  8. Save Announcer
Save announcer is another chat-based plugin that can help explain certain instances of server lag. One of the largest factors to server lag is when the server saves and this plugin helps explain certain lag spikes.
  9. Gather Manager
This plugin is really only for modded servers as servers listed in community can not have any game-changing plugins which this one is and that’s why it’s number 9. With gather manager, the owner can adjust the amount of resources players gather while playing. This can be used for affecting how much ore is given out, loot from crates, and other similar bootable objects.
  10. Quick Smelt
Like gather manager, this one can only be used in modded servers and that’s why it’s number 10. Quick smelt lets the owner change the speed at which things are smelted, how much fuel is used for smelting and changing the output multiplier. This can be helpful for those times where you have way too much ore but not enough time.

That’s It!

Make sure to watch out for future Top 10s to find out about more interesting plugins for your server.

  5. Save Announcer is now installed and you’re good to go!

This plugin doesn’t really require any configuration out of the box, however if you’d like you can customize more features such as enabling a GUI popup message as apposed to a chat message. If you’d like to make any additional changes to the config, more information can be found on the official uMod page for Save Announcer here.

Facing any issues?

The format is very important when editing .json configuration files so the use of a JSON editor or validation site will help with any formatting issues you might be having. Also, check your server console for any errors! Still having problems? Feel free to contact our support team.

How to Wipe Your Rust Server

Why Wipe My Rust Server?

In Rust, it’s very important to wipe your server. The most common wipe cycle you’ll come across is weekly map wipes, with a forced blueprint wipe upon the release of a game update. You might be thinking to yourself “Why are rust servers wiped so frequently?“. The reason being is that after around a week of consistent playing, most players will have achieved ‘end-game’ and the pace of gameplay will gradually slowdown.

How to Wipe Your Server Through The Iceline Panel

This first method will show the easiest way of wiping your Rust server.

  1. Navigate to the Iceline game panel.
  2. Stop your server.
  3. Scroll across to the settings tab and you’ll notice a ‘Wipe Rust Server’ section, like the one pictured below:
  1. If you select the dropdown box, you can choose from the following wipe types; Maps, Blueprints, or Full wipe, which wipes both maps and blueprints together. Once you’ve decided what type of wipe you’ll be performing, select ‘Wipe Server’. Keep in mind, you may want to create a backup as this action is irreversible.
  2. Restart your server and it will have successfully wiped.

How to Wipe Your Rust Server Manually

This second method will show you how to wipe your Rust server manually through the use of the panel file manager, or through FTP.

  1. Navigate to the Iceline panel.
  2. Stop your server.
  3. Select the file manager tab, or connect through FTP. We have a guide on how to connect to your server through FTP here.
  4. Navigate to the following directory /server/rust
  • To perform a map wipe only, simply delete all the files with the .map file extension in the directory mentioned in Step 4.
Example of map files.
  • To perform a blueprint/playerdata wipe only, delete all the files with the .db extension in the directory mentioned.
Example of playerdata files.

If you’d like to perform a full wipe, combine both of the methods mentioned above.

  1. Once you’ve successfully removed the files necessary for the type of wipe you’re performing, restart your server and you’ll be good to go!

Facing any issues?

Please ensure you follow this guide step-by-step and only remove the files necessary to this guide! As mentioned previously, it’s a good idea to create a backup on the off chance you accidentally delete the wrong files. Still having problems? Feel free to contact our support team.

How to Increase Gather Rates on Your Rust Server

Why would you want to increase gather rates?

Increasing gather rates is an essential process for most modded servers on Rust. It allows players to farm resources at a higher rate and thus progresses through the game a lot faster. The plugin we’ll be using to achieve this is called ‘Gather Manager’ and will require you to have Oxide installed on your server. You can view our knowlegebase tutorial on how to install Oxide here.

How to Install Gather Manager to Your Rust Server

  1. To begin, start by downloading the ‘Gather Manager’ plugin by navigating to your game panel, select the ‘plugins’ tab, and search for ‘Gather Manager’. You can now skip to step four. Alternatively, you can install the plugin manually from here and follow the steps below.
  2. Connect to your SFTP via FileZilla (We have a guide on how to do this here).
  3. Upload the ‘GatherManager.cs’ file to your /oxide/plugins folder.
  4. You can now restart your server.
  5. In this example, we’ll be changing the resource gather rate by 10x the base game value. To do so, from the Iceline panel or the in-game console, type the following command “gather.rate dispenser * 10
  6. If you’d also like to change the multiplier of pickups (items you can find on the ground) you can use “gather.rate pickup * 10

These are the basic modifications that can be made through the use of Gather Manager. If you’d like to configure the plugin in more depth you can view more information of the official uMod page here.

Facing any issues?

If you’re attempting to enter the commands above through the in-game console, ensure that you’ve assigned yourself as an admin. You can view our guide on how to do this here. Be sure to also check your console for any plugin errors! Still having problems? Feel free to contact our support team.
