Introduction

If you’re running a public/community Valheim server, you may come across some “unwanted” players. Once you’ve added yourself as an admin for your Valheim game server hosting, you’ll be able to kick, ban, view server info, and ping. These commands are very handy if you don’t want to add a password to your Valheim server.

Adding an Admin

To add yourself as an Admin, this must be done by editing specific files. Firstly you’ll need your SteamID, this can be found by pressing “F2” if you are currently in-game and connected to the server.

1) Navigate to the following directory

/home/container/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim

2) Once you have navigated to the directory above, you will see 3 files:

adminlist.txt
bannedlist.txt
permittedlist.txt

Edit the “adminlist.txt” file and add your SteamID (one per line)

3) Save the file and restart your Valheim game server hosting server – you should now be an admin!
