How to Set Up Scheduled Tasks on the Iceline Game Panel

Here at Iceline Hosting, our game panel offers the ability to create your own scheduled tasks. You might be wondering, why would I want to set up scheduled tasks on my server? Well, take a modded Minecraft server for example – over time, as more chunks are generated/loaded and more of the world is explored, your server’s resource usage will eventually increase. Setting up scheduled tasks, such as a restart every 24 hours, will ensure that your server remains performing in optimal condition.

Our schedules support the ability to send power actions, database backups, server backups, and custom commands. If you’re interested to learn how to set this up for your server, then look no further than this guide.

How to Create Scheduled Tasks

To set up scheduled server tasks, first ensure that you are logged into your Iceline Game Panel account and navigate to the panel.

1. Once you’re at the Iceline Game Panel, and you’ve selected your server, find the ‘Schedules’ tab.
2. Select your timezone in the left dropdown menu.

1. If this is your first time creating a schedule, click on the ‘Create Schedule’ button highlighted in blue.
2. You will then be presented with the ‘Create Schedule’ tab, which allows you to select the name, frequency, or specify a custom time expression for your schedule.
3. Fill in the details and click on Create Schedule

With this, the schedule has been created and will be processed at the frequency indicated (daily in this example), but as of now, the Schedule doesn't do anything because we haven't added any tasks yet.

Adding tasks to your Schedule

Tasks are the brain and heart behind schedules. The Iceline Hosting Game Panel currently supports the ability for custom commands (e.g, 'say commands'), power actions (start, stop, shutdown), and the ability to create server/database backups. To add tasks to your schedule, just follow these steps:

• Click the top left side of your schedule to unfold your new schedule

• Click on Add Task to open the task creation box.
• Select the action type (command, power action, backup).
• Select the offset time for the action to be performed (which can be used to send some reminders on chat, for example)
• Select the command, power action, or type of backup to be performed accordingly.
• Click on the Add Task button located at the bottom of the box when you're finished

That's it! You've now created a task, and this will be automatically executed every day at the frequency indicated.

In the example below, the schedule will run every day at 12 a.m. UTC; will inform the customers that the server will be restarted in a minute, wait 60 seconds, and then process the selected power action (restart).

Additional notes

The command ‘say’ may vary depending on the game you’re playing, so it’s worth checking what the chat commands are beforehand. You can use the Iceline AI for this :)

When setting up a backup schedule, make sure that you’re leaving enough space allocated, which you can preview within the ‘Backups’ tab of the Iceline Hosting Game Panel.

Creating a schedule through the Iceline AI

To create a schedule for your server, just ask the AI to make the schedule for you at a specific frequency and mention what tasks it should do. The AI will process your request and set it up for you in a few seconds!
