Hytale early access has finally been released, and with this, a whole world of possibilities is now available through the engine. This early access includes support for dedicated servers, so it's important to know how to be able to change the server settings so you can tailor the gameplay and difficulty as much as you want for you and your players. Likewise, it's also important if you ever want to replace your world with a new one, for example, a custom world made by another player, thanks to the tools made by Hytale developers!
Fortunately, thanks to the advanced features of the custom Iceline game panel, making these changes is as simple as doing a few clicks! In this tutorial, we'll be going over the process of changing the server settings and server world.
Before Starting
Make sure you already have a working Dedicated Hytale Server. For this, Iceline Hosting is your best choice!
Iceline Hosting game panel supports instant setup, along with some features like an automatic Turbo Mode for mod-heavy CPU performance bursts (like world generation), enterprise-grade DDoS protection via the Iceline Shield Panel, and global locations (London, Frankfurt, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Singapore, Sydney) to ensure low-latency play. If you don't have a server, feel free to check our available plans and start your journey today!

How to change the Hytale Server Settings
- Log in to your Iceline Game Panel.
- Select your Hytale server and turn it off.
- In your navigation bar, click on Files.
- Locate the configuration file (config.json) and open it.
- Inside the configuration file, change all the settings you need.
- Click on Save File when you're finished.
- Restart the server.

Changes will be automatically applied to your server on restart. Through this file, you can change the number of players, the server name, the server password, the server world name, and more. Make sure to set valid values; otherwise, they may not work.
How to change the Hytale Server Settings through the Game Panel Startup tab
Thanks to the Iceline Game panel, these options can be edited through the server startup tab, saving you some time! Just follow these steps:
- Log in to your Iceline Game Panel.
- Select your Hytale server and turn it off.
- In your navigation bar, click on Startup.
- Replace the default values with anything of your choice.
- Click on Save Changes when you're finished.
- Restart the server.

How to change the Hytale Server World
Do you have any custom maps you'd like to try? Then just follow these steps:
- Log in to your Iceline Game Panel.
- Select your Hytale server and turn it off.
- In your navigation bar, click on Files.
- Navigate to /universe/worlds/.
- Locate the world folder (usually called default) and delete it.
- Upload the new map folder, make sure it matches the previous world name (or change it through the config.json file).
- Restart the server.
If the change is meant to be temporary, make sure to create a backup of your world folder first, either by downloading the files to your PC or by making a backup through the game panel. You can also use SFTP to manage your server files, feel free to check this guide for further information.
Ask the AI to change the settings for you!
Iceline Hosting features a powerful AI tool included with all our game servers that can be used to speed the management process and automate certain tasks. It supports instructions through natural language and checks the server console for potential errors. Learn more about our Iceline AI assistant here!
Just ask the Iceline AI to change the server settings for you, and it will check your configuration file and confirm with you the changes. You can then approve/deny them, or provide additional steps!

Facing any issues?
Make sure you've set valid values for your settings and that the world folder contains valid files. If you continue having issues, feel free to contact us, or ask the Iceline AI to check your server console and suggest changes to you.
